"Huh" Finally! I have finished my other subject assignments and have the free time to type my blog. I am tired now but I want to keep the experiences fresh!
29 Oct 2012 was my second Creative Studies lecture. After submitted my blog URL address, the lecture began with a 45 minutes discussion on the object of curiosity. I'm gonna give a "Wow" to this section cause some even related the object to SEX! But what Mr. Yap was trying to tell us is that we should analyse our idea. Always think of "why do I think of that (what is this?)", "how do I come out with that", "what are the features that triggered me to think that", "am I looking at its shape?" or "is it the way it look that gives me the idea?". These related to the layer of creativity or the process of thinking. Do imagine the whole scenario of using the idea like why use it that way or how to use it. By analyzing this way there is value in our creativity not just coming out with any special ideas without meanings.
Another interesting thing that I have learnt was that by asking reverse questions sometimes will discover interesting answers. When Mr. Yap asked us to list down the words that associated to creativity we automatically came out with all the art fundamental words such as "color, pattern, line, shape, fun, different, and new'. But when we came across to the opposite, we answered "homeless, coward, sadness, politic and mainstream".
Finally, we began our lecture of the day, "Defining Creativity". As I have mentioned before, creativity is finding new way of doing thing which is useful. It associates with madness, inspiration, imagination even value (as creativity is now a big business, it has currency". Creativity is ability, the ability to imagine or invent new things with value without breaking basic ground rules. It is attitude, the ability to accept change or new things by knowing how far is our limitation is. It is process to think or to work through. But the most interesting thing was said by Ken Robinson
